Syco Entertainment, Simon Cowell’s joint venture with Sony Music, is one of the world’s leading music, television and film production companies, responsible for some of the most successful global entertainment franchises.

In 2020, Simon Cowell exercised his “right to buy back” with Sony Music and took back control of his television assets in a jointly amicable agreement.

Sony Music currently retain the Syco Music assets and Simon Cowell’s now runs Syco Entertainment focusing on TV projects.

Syco’s television assets include Got Talent, The X Factor and The Greatest Dancer.

The X Factor is now produced in 55 territories and airs in 178 countries around the world. Artists discovered by The X Factor have sold more than 500 million records worldwide, making it the most successful show in history for finding chart superstars.

The Got Talent format is officially the world’s most successful reality TV format of all time, airing in 186 countries worldwide and holding the Guinness World Records title for the highest number of adaptations, having been commissioned in 72 territories globally. The format has discovered and launched a diverse roster of talent such as Susan Boyle, Paul Potts and Grace Vanderwaal, Terry Fator, Matt Franco, Courtney Hadwin and many more.

To date, Britain’s Got Talent has won three National Television Awards, two Royal Television Society Awards and the BAFTA for Best Entertainment Programme two years in a row in 2018 and 2019. After launching in 2006, America’s Got Talent is in its 15th season and continues to be the #1 summer series year after year.

The music division, Syco Music, is home to internationally renowned recording artists, including James Arthur, Susan Boyle, Camila Cabello, CNCO, Labrinth, Tokio Myers, PRETTYMUCH, Louis Tomlinson, and Grace VanderWaal, amongst others.

In 2017, Syco Music was named Music Weeks’s Record Label of the year and is home to internationally successful artists who have sold more than 380 million records to date.

Such artists include Camila Cabello, whose hit single ‘Havana’ went No1 in a total of 80 countries, and is the most streamed song by any lead female in history. Syco’s artist roster also includes One Direction, who have sold more than 150 million records worldwide, have headlined four sold out world tours, selling more than 10 million tickets in total.

In addition to music and TV, Syco Entertainment has also extended into feature films. Syco produced the No. 1 global box office hit One Direction: This Is Us, a 3D Concert movie and currently has a number of film projects in development.
