Simon Cowell has joined forces with numerous other UK celebrities to encourage people to download the NHS’ new contact tracing app.
This weekend marks The Big App Download Weekend, where people from England and Wales will be coming together in a bid to help protect others and limit the spread of the virus.
Along with Simon, Olly Murs, Gemma Collins, Gordon Ramsay and Harry Redknapp have come together on a video to spur the nation on in helping the NHS control the virus.
It was a surprise appearance from Simon, who has had to miss appearances on both America and Britain’s Got talent due to a back injury. He told the public: ‘It’s time for you to play a starring role.’
Check the video out here and download the app for IOS or Android on your App Store.
It is the first time Simon has been seen in public for several weeks. He has been following doctors orders to rest after his serious cycling accident left him with a broken back.

Recuperating at his family home in Malibu, Simon looks to be well on the mend and we look forward to seeing him back on our screens again soon!
