As America’s Got Talent heads towards the exciting ‘Judges Cuts’ segment, we have a sneak peek on how differently things will be done this year.
For Season 15, the judges have moved to an outdoor set. In a bid to keep within guidelines for social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vegara and Howie Mandel will sit outside.
The revamped look is based on a drive in movie theme featuring a giant outdoor screen.
All the judges arrive in style in an array of fancy vintage cars – however Howie had his own unique take on ‘fancy’ – watch the video at the end of our article to take a look!
Heidi Klum makes a welcome return after previously leaving the show temporarily due to illness.
Host Terry Crews will be situated more than six feet away from the judges, who all wear protective face masks when they aren’t speaking on camera.
Whilst usually covering four episodes, this year Judges Cuts will be condensed into one bumper episode featuring 60 acts. 44 acts will then perform over four weeks of live quarter-final shows, beginning August 11.
Simon Cowell explained why he was determined to keep the show on air:
“As bad as it is, you always have to find a solution to get back to work,” he said. “I have sympathy for so many people in this situation, but if our show is an example, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s different, but hopefully it will still be as popular.”
America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesday 8pm ET on NBC. UK viewers can watch via Netflix from July 31st.
